Easter, 10-Apr-2012

Hello:)
Easter Sunday was wonderful. The weather here has been so nice lately,
it almost doesn't feel like I'm in the same Oregon! We had an Easter
egg hunt earlier in the morning with the members that we live with,
and then they had us watch an Easter song in American Sign Language.
Later that evening Sister Hanson showed us the new bible videos that
portray the life of Jesus Christ. It's really well done on how
accurate the stories are. One of them, focuses solely on the Sacrament
and the washing of Christ's feet. Both are beautifully, well done
espically with the acting.
Our investigator Armando came to church and loves it. It's so cute,
he keeps asking his wife when she wants to be baptized and keeps
trying to commit her to join him. She unfortunately has a lot of
health issues and can barely move around herself. We were teaching
them both the Law of Chastity last lesson. They both accepted it and
talked of how important their marriage was to them, and how it has
just blessed their life to be faithful to each other. It was a bit
awkward at the end, there was a plumber working on some kind of pipe
in the bathroom, and as he came out to interrupt the lesson about it,
he was being really funny and said that all we said was true and
testified of it. He was a member that was attending the other ward,
and then apologized for not introducing himself earlier. haha. It's
funny at times how often you are recognized as a missionary. We just
never thought it would be the plumber that time around:)
Our other investigator, who is an older woman in her 50's that we
watched conference this past weekend with told us this past week that
she knew the church was true but wasn't ready yet for the step of
baptism. She recognized what a commitment that was and wanted to be
fully ready for it in her life. My companion explained the analogy of
the green light. Alot of us, a different times are just waiting for
that green light to happen, to just answer all of our questions or
take care of everything, or that there is just going to be a
lightening answer to our prayers. We have to do our part by having
faith in him by taking the action. Faith is not faith without works.
We committed her to watch the Sunday portion of conference that she
missed and then to truly pray for herself again. She knows the
blessings of the gospel through the example of her family. I'm so
thankful for that.
For Pday last week, we were finally able to go to the zoo! I love
Portland Zoo. It really is one of the neatest zoo's. The Elders in our
district found some Bongo drums in the African section and were
playing around to Israel, Israel God is calling that was playing in
the background in the African Section. It was so funny. I am starting
to love forest Grove more here. We're finding more people to teach and
more opportunities to testify. We have a lesson this evening with a
friend of a member. I really truly believe that our testimony as a
friend is the greatest tool to missionary work. So, think of a friend
this week that could use this gospel message. Maybe invite them over
when the missionaries are there for dinner. Pray about different ways
you could bring up the gospel or even as you are talking with them.
You don't want to miss out on the opportunity you have to share it.
